Flight Simulator Programs

Flight Design CTLS aircraft side view Choosing a flight simulator program is your first step in virtual aviation. This decision should be based on four primary factors:

  • airplane you want to train in
  • your computer skills
  • flexibility in design of aircraft
  • Terrain and landmark realism

We will look at and evaluate the two affordable industry standard flight simulator programs:

  • Microsoft “Flight Simulator X (FSX)” newest version
  • Laminar Research “X-Plane” newest version is 9.x

We will also look at the Google Earth Flight simulator with it’s detailed terrain and landmark realism 

We will start by looking at two light-sport airplanes I fly:

  • Flight Designs CT
  • Zodiac 601/650
